New favourite thing!

Okay, since Sunday was another "doing nothing" kind of day, I decided to do a little product review type thing instead!

So... NAIL VARNISH, yay!

I had been looking for matte nail varnish for ages and was buying my mum some O.P.I nail polish for her birthday. Turned out, these were 3 for 2 and I thought I might as well get myself one too! I honestly love this stuff so so much! It's in the range of "Nicole by O.P.I" and is fantastic quality.

Some advice if you're going to buy this - make sure you don't scrimp on the amount you use because it can drag across the colour already on your nail and can transfer onto the brush! Also something I thought was pretty cool.. you know sometimes you can hear a little rattle sound from nail polish? It's actually little metal balls that evenly distribute the colour pigments, glitter or in this case, whatever it is that makes it look matte!

Finally, this is the result! I have used it on loads of colours and every time it looks amazing! Going to put it out there.. some people don't like it but who cares? As long as you like it, it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks!

Sorry this is a day late.. I didn't get the chance to upload it yesterday! So you'll probably get two today instead! See you later x

Doing-not-a-lot kind of day!

For the past couple of days, I've been pretty busy but yesterday I didn't actually do an awful lot! I have a few arty-crafty things that I'm working on but I'll tell you about those when I get them finished! They're all pretty exciting (at least I think they are) so check back for those in a little bit.

But after a long day of not doing much I finally got a message from my boyfriend to say that he had finished work! Over summer he doesn't get much time off and when he goes back to school and I'm (hopefully) working, we won't have a lot of time together so I get excited when I get to see him and hang out!

So my mum dropped me off (because my brother took the car!) and Patrick and myself sat down to watch Netflix.. not actually knowing what we were going to watch. We decided to give American Horror Story a try since I'd heard people raving about it but I kept winding Patrick up and neither of us were really in the mood to watch it so we gave up on that one! Then after a while we started watching "Zombieland" which was actually really good... but as soon as I was getting into it Netflix stopped working. Of course. So that idea quickly went out the window and we just sat, talked for a bit and played with Patrick's dog, Miley :) (she's super cute, look!)

Then, as with most people sooner or later.... Patrick found out that I'm actually incredible ticklish which lead to a lot of laughing and rolling around on the floor! (I'm sure his parents were a bit concerned, but they left us to it!)

We'd also been meaning to take a "cute couple selfie" for a while but I always complained about what I looked like but we actually got a nice one last night so I was pretty happy about that! Awk look, aren't we so cute..

Unfortunately I had to leave a bit earlier than usual which sucked but I still had an awesome night and he's off again on Monday, yay!

So that was pretty much my exciting Saturday night! If I ever get into American Horror Story or finish Zombieland, I'll let you know what I think of them :)

Also I found this cute quote that pretty much sums up my relationship..

A little bit of baking!

My inspiration for this baking adventure was actually Jim Chapman from YouTube. I watched the video which he made this recipe in and thought it looked amazing! (Click here to watch his video!)

So after I got out of bed and was finally awake enough to know what I was doing, I searched for the recipe online as it was easier than following the video. It did take a while but I eventually found it on Pinterest :) and here's the recipe...

I decided that it was simple enough that even I could master it so I navigated my way around the kitchen (with some help from my mum, of course!) and found all of the ingredients and utensils! Turns out, it is actually pretty simple and also very very bad for you. :) I didn't have a deep enough tin so I made two and layered it with some of the coating in the middle which tastes just as yummy!

Here are a few pictures I took while I was baking:

(yes, I know it looks kind of gross but trust me.. it works in the end!)

So after I finished the mixture (or dog food, whatever way you want to look at it) I split it into the two cake tins and put them in the oven. Now at this point, you can either get on with some washing up or like me, you could sit and watch the cakes rising (don't ask - I found it kind of amusing).  You can see my reflection in the oven.. yes I really did watch them!

Next it was time to take them out of the oven (I think it only took about 20-25 minutes instead of the suggested time) and wait for them to cool, which is quite difficult if you're as impatient as me. Buuuuut the time eventually came for me to make the icing and get down to covering the cake! (By the way, if they crack a lot when they cool, don't panic.. just fill the holes with icing) Also, I know it looks kind of messy but in the film it was like that so I wanted it to look the same (only obviously a lot smaller - imagine how heavy it would be if it was to scale!)

 Oooo.. look, yummy cake!

So, there you have it! One chocolate cake, inspired by Jim Chapman and my childhood love for Matilda! It's definitely worth giving this recipe a try because it tastes amazing (I'm not just saying that.. my family demolished it in a day!)

And until tomorrow, have a good evening, bye! x

A couple of days away :)

Hey guys!
So this is my first ever blog post which is a bit scary but I'm excited to see what this blog with bring :)

Yesterday was actually the second day of my little 2-day get away with my longest childhood friend, Hannah and our mums! We spent the previous day shopping in Belfast (which is about an hour and a half from where we live). Although we spent the day pretending to be rich, looking in shops like Hollister and Jack Wills, the only places I actually bought anything from were Primark, Dunnes Stores and Poundland lol! (everything I bought in Poundland was edible and didn't last long enough to make it into this blog!)

So here are the things I got from Primark and Dunnes:
I absolutely loved this top when I saw it! It's a burgundy Harry Potter t-shirt from Primark and has the Gryffindor house crest on it. It's also a real bargain at just £6! If anyone is going to buy this, I did size down because it was quite big on me although if you prefer it baggy just get your normal size!

This is a peachy coloured, knitted jumper - also from Primark at £12. It is super comfy and isn't scratchy like some other jumpers I've had in the past! I think it would look great at Autumn/Winter time either by itself or with a collared shirt underneath! Unlike the Harry Potter t-shirt, I had to size up with this jumper so keep that in mind if you're buying this, definitely try it on first!

Next is this cream t-shirt (sorry, it looks white in the photo!) which has a cute little photo on the front and says "The Summer of Love" at the bottom. Again, from Primark and only £3!

I think this is super cute! A little grey "Amsterdam" t-shirt with a bike on the front. I had bought my brother a mans top with "Amsterdam" on it for Christmas last year so I thought it would be funny to get one similar! And like the cream one, it's just £3 from Primark!

Finally, I got two of these. Plain black, stretch, long sleeved tops from Dunnes Stores. Yes, they look pretty boring but I had one before which got ripped and I wanted a replacement! They're only £6 so I thought I would get a new one and a spare! :)

After shopping we went to our hotel, got some dinner and watched the new movie "Begin Again" featuring James Corden and Keira Knightley, which by the way is a brilliant film and I loved it!

*NEXT DAY*

After getting breakfast and checking out of the hotel, we headed off to Bangor and spent some time at a little beach and in some swan pedalos. We saw some pretty awesome little creatures in the rock pools at the beach, skimmed stones and took the mandatory "beach selfie"!

After a busy two days, we headed back home and admittedly, I did have a little nap in the car! I had a brilliant time away and couldn't have spent it with any better people! :)
